Your Library Membership

Library membership is free. With it you can:

  • Borrow up to 12 books on an adult card, or 18 on a junior card, free of charge for 3 weeks
  • Borrow DVDs and audiobook CDS
  • Reserve up to 10 items for free
  • 45 minutes of free computer use per day, plus unlimited free Wi-Fi
As a Cornwall Library card holder, you can access a wide range of online resources completely free. These include:
  • BorrowBox (app) for free eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and eNewspapers. 
  • PressReader (app) for free eNewspapers and eMagazines
  • Comic Plus (app) for comics, graphic novels and manga
  • Transparent Language for online and app based language courses
  • Cloud Library (app) to display your library card on your phone

 

Renewing Items

You can renew items in person or online at Libraries - Cornwall Council. To renew online you will need to log in with the long number on the back of your library membership card and your pin, which should be the last four digits of your membership number.  

Accessibility:

  • Two disabled spaces in the staff car park to the side of the library, and an on-road parking bay at the front of the library.
  • Disabled access through the front and side of the building.
  • Accessible toilet available.
  • Dedicated area for large print books.

Special events

We host a wide range of one-off special events for adults and children, including author talks, drop-in events and more. Check our social media to find out if there are any special events taking place soon.

 

Facilities:

  • 8 Computers with internet access.
  • Performing Arts Collection with specialist resources for music, theatre, dance, film and drama
  • Free WiFi
  • Microfilm/microfiche reader
  • Scanning, printing, and photocoying
  • Self service issues and returns (staff available to help if required) 

Events and Activities:

  • Readers' groups: We have a number of Library-based reading groups. If you are interested in joining, please contact us direct. We will add your name to our waiting list and offer you the next available place.
  • Creative Writing Group: Meets in the Library at 2pm on the last Tuesday and Thursday of the month. Please contact us direct for further information.
  • Knit and Stitch Group: 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month, 10am-1pm. All abilities and stitchers of every kind are very welcome! 

Regular children's events:

  • Sing and Shake for ages 0-4. Mondays 2pm-2:30pm, and Wednesdays 9:30am-10am (term time only)
  • Story Time and Duplo for ages 0-4. Fridays 9:30am-10am (term time only)
  • Lego Club for ages 4-12. Wednesdays 3:45pm-4:30pm (term time only)
  • Home Ed Lego Club for ages 4-12. Tuesdays 10am-11am (term time only)
All the above events are drop in, no need to book.

 

Summer Reading Challenge: Throughout the summer holidays we run the Summer Reading Challenge, a national incentive to keep children reading through the long school break. The challenge is to read six books over the holiday and collect prizes along the way, with a medal and certificate at the end of the challenge.
