Good Growth Cornwall and Isle of Scilly Shared Prosperity Fund

 St Austell Town Council has been in receipt of UK Shared Prosperity Funding for the following projects:

 

Roof Garden

Funding was provided to commission designs and a feasibility report on the development of a roof garden and facilities on an unused open air car park at Old Vicarage Place. Designs and the project report were completed in January 2025. 

This project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

 

Holy Trinity Piazza Design 

Funding was provided to design a piazza space at Holy Trinity Church St Austell. The design report was completed in October 2024 and is available from St Austell Town Council.  Work to realise the design begins in April 2025.

This project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

 

Gateway (Duke Street and Viaduct)

Funding was provided to facilitate design and feasibility work for developing improvements to two of St Austell’s gateways at the rail viaduct and Duke Street. The viaduct gateway was not progressed due to technical and access issues. The Duke Street design was completed in March 2025. Information on both projects is available from St Austell Town Council.

High Cross Street

Funding was provided to investigate the feasibility of providing student accommodation in High Cross Street, St Austell. Information on the project is available from St Austell Town Council.

Pump Track, The Meadows Park

Funding was provided for the creation of a state of art pump track which will be one of the best in the South West and offer a wonderful cycling facility for cyclists of all ages. 

Town Centre Improvements 

A range of small scale improvements in the town centre including screening of the old fire station site, planting in Vicarage Place, improvements to railings and planting in Trinity Street have been delivered with funding from the Shared Prosperity Fund. 

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
