Priory Car Park in St Austell continues to take cash
Following the announcement by Cornwall Council that they will no longer take cash in the majority of their car parks from Saturday 1st August 2026, St Austell Town Council can confirm that their car park, Priory Car Park in St Austell will continue to take cash.
David Pooley, Town Clerk said:
“St Austell Town Councillors acknowledge the importance of customers having a choice of how they wish to pay for their parking and being able to use cash is very important for some people. As well as cash, customers can also pay by contactless or the web-based system Buzz Pay. Funds from the car park are used to help pay for improving and maintaining services in St Austell”
Priory car park has four car parking machines and payment by cash can be made at all four machines.
Payment is available by cash or contactless at the machines, or online via BuzzPay using the details shown on the car park signage. BuzzPay can be used without downloading an app or creating an account.
Costs are as follows:
Monday to Saturday - 9am to 4pm
- Up to 1 hour - £1
- Up to 2 hours - £1.60
- Up to 4 hours - £3
- 24 hours - £9
